NEXIUM (NE-ksh-yu-M)/ESOMEPRAZOLE (e-SO-meh-PRA-zowl) BRAND NAME(S): Nexium USES: To prevent the production of acid in the stomach and prevent injury to the digestive tract. HOW TO USE: Take orally on an empty stomach at least one hour before a meal. Take as prescribed. SIDE EFFECTS: May cause chest pain, shortness of breath, skin rash, and fatigue. Other side effects include flatulence, diarrhea and dryness of mouth. If other symptoms persist, seek medical attention. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have a history of: liver disease and allergies to food, dyes and other medicines. Do not take when pregnant or breast-feeding unless prescribed by your doctor.
